Presence is one of the best told ghost stories I’ve ever seen. I would highly encourage you to watch it late at night as soon as possible without reading anything about it ahead of time so that no fools can spoil it for you. With Steven Soderbergh’s inventive filming entirely from the ghost’s POV (and restricting that to the interior of a single house) and David Koepp’s tighter-than-a-watch-spring script, this is the best eighty-five minutes I’ve spent being spooked out in years. Slow-burning with an ending that crushes, this is a movie I can unreservedly recommend to everyone.
